Oz Park

Did you know that without Chicago the beloved story of The Wizard of Oz would never have been written? The movie has been seen by billions and continues to enchant multiple generations. Join us for a stroll down the yellow brick road through beautiful Oz Park as we learn about the history of the environment and the true story behind the characters and moments of the magical tale. In collaboration with the Oz Park Advisory Council.

Cemetery Tours
Montrose Cemetery
Sunday, June 10, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Located on the Northwest Side, Montrose Cemetery was originally occupied by Chicago’s German community. It has since become the place of final rest for an ethnically diverse population of Serbs, Assyrians, Japanese, and Gypsies, each with its own distinctive memorial style. Meets at cemetery entrance, 5400 N. Pulaski Road.

Bohemian National Cemetery
Sunday, July 29, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Spanning 126 acres, Bohemian National Cemetery contains one of the city’s finest collections of funerary art. Cemetery expert Al Walavich guides you through this “Garden of the Dead,” a true Chicago landmark. Meets at cemetery entrance, 5255 N. Pulaski Road.

Oak Woods Cemetery

Established in 1854, Oak Woods is Chicago’s most significant South Side
cemetery. Well-known athletes, scientists, activists, and politicians are buried here. Cemetery expert Al Walavich leads your exploration. Meets at cemetery entrance, 1035 E. 67th Street.
