Chicago had no shortage of characters in 1920s—bootleggers, flappers, FBI agents, teetotalers, and mobsters. Enjoy a thirty-minute staged reading of Chicago playwright Brett Neveu’s newest work inspired by the Museum’s prohibition era collection. View archival materials and practice using stories from the past to build characterization and craft your script.

Unfold history using Civil War letters and memoirs by soldiers and their families. Use these as a backdrop for discussion, exploring historical context, characterization, and writing exercises designed to inspire new works. Special guest Russell Lewis, Executive Vice President and Chief Historian will share stories about the Museum’s Civil War collections.
