Join us on the Museum’s Uihlein Plaza for the runway debut of rising stars from Chicago’s fashion design schools: Columbia College Chicago, The Illinois Institute of Art in Chicago, International Academy of Design and Technology in Chicago, and School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Creativity abounds in these award-winners’ styles, representing their best work and original spin on fashion.
Also watch the finalists from the Chicago History Museum’s FashioNext: The Charles James Project compete—and the winner unveiled. Reservations requested.
Cost: $25 general admission, $15 students
FashioNext
FashioNext is an ongoing, ground-breaking fashion design competition featuring Chicago designers. Participants are challenged to design garments inspired by select pieces from the costume collection of the Chicago History Museum.
2011 FashioNext Designers
FashioNext: The Charles James Project challenges top students from local fashion design schools (Columbia College Chicago, Illinois Institute of Art – Chicago, International Academy of Design & Technology – Chicago and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago) to create an accessory or garment inspired by the design, pattern work or construction details from a Charles James design selected from the Chicago History Museum’s own costume collection.
