The Burnt District
The lone fully completed South Division building in the path of the fire to survive, the Lind Block was probably saved by its relatively isolated location at Randolph and Market (now Wacker Drive), in the northwest corner of the downtown. At the time of the fire, it was occupied by the Z.M. Hall wholesale grocery concern. It went through a series of owner and name changes before it was taken down in the 1960s.
