  Union Depot
Jex Bardwell, Union Depot, 1871 Among the Ruins
This photograph combines two elements favored by artists and illustrators: a ruined arch and a lone figure contemplating the scene. This figure's isolation contrasts sharply with the crowds that passed through this downtown terminal on Van Buren Street west of Clark.
