| On the northwest corner of the intersection of Randolph and LaSalle stood the Metropolitan block, whose large third floor held Metropolitan Hall, described by Cook as "the most capacious place of assembly in the city." The venerable Bismarck Hotel has long since supplanted the row of buildings on the south side of Randolph, and the 160 North LaSalle State of Illinois Building is on the north. | |||
