  Mrs. Catherine O'Leary Milking Daisy
Norman Rockwell, Mrs. Catherine O'Leary Milking Daisy, ca. 1935 The Saga Continues
For six decades of the twentieth century, extending into the 1970's, Norman Rockwell's art defined America for a vast popular audience. Rockwell's choice of Mrs. O'Leary and Daisy as his subject confirms their entry into the national folk pantheon. Rockwell portrayed a robust Kate O'Leary happily lost in her task as Daisy mischievously turns her back on the lamp, the viewer, and history.
