The Fire Crossing the River from the South to North Side
The Great Fire in Chicago: The Fire Crossing the River from the South to the North Side, ca. 1871 (Kellogg & Bulkeley, Hartford) Arresting Images

The hurried fashion in which this was likely produced is evidenced by the limited use of color and the relative absence of detail and figures. T. M. Avery, whose sign appears in the lower right, was a lumber merchant who was on the Board of Directors of the Relief and Aid Society.
